Pastor Tom and Jeanette
Jeanette and I count it one of God's greatest joys in our lives to minister to His children at First Baptist.  The loving spirit in this church is truly a picture of God's love for mankind in giving Christ for us.  We commit to each other to continue sharing that love with our community, our Commonwealth and our world.  God has seen us through valleys and on to mountaintops, but whatever happens in the life of His church.
On October 5, 1931, a vision become a reality, a Missionary Baptist Church was organized in the county of Greenup, Ky.  It was through the untiring efforts of W.B. Curnutte and twenty other people. who trusted God, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, that such a vision could become a meaningful worship experience.  Friends from sister churches like faith and order assisted in carrying out this wonderful adventure.
The first  pastor of this new church was Elder V.B. Castleberry. The first members to be baptized into this body were Edith Burchett (Underwood), Mary Olive Meade and Marjorie Burchett.
From a tent, to a theater building, to the wonderful facility today on East Main, the Word and Work of God has been and will continue to be alive and active until Jesus cames.
Sunday, August 4, 2002, the church building was destroyed by fire, but the "Church" truly caught on fire.  We were reminded that no matter what happens, "the Cross is still there." So come, be a part of our "New Beginning."
